Sandbox Coworking to Open in Kakaako in July 2019

The Sandbox Kakaako

The Sandbox is the latest co-working space to provide a home for entrepreneurs in the rapidly growing Kakaako neighborhood. The Sandbox is just a small piece of what will eventually become the Kakaako Innovation Block. The two-story Sandbox will span 13,500 square feet and it to be completed in July of 2019.

The Sandbox Kakaako

The Sandbox comes as a few others co-working spaces in Kakaako are expanding. Recently The Box Jelly located off of Kamani street received private investment from a Japanese company to expand into the old Brew moon space in Victoria Ward Center and the Impacthub HNL expanding to the second floor of their existing space.

The Hawaii Technology Development Corporation (HTDC) is the economic driver of this project. The HTDC is the state's economic development agency focused on growing the technology sector. The HTDC will continue to innovate and create programs meant to cultivate and embrace the ever changing technology industry.

WeWork Space

The growth of co-working spaces, not just here in Honolulu but around the world, offers us a glimpse into the mindset of entrepreneurs and big businesses. The huge success of WeWork, one of the largest co-working space companies valued at over 40 billion dollars, provides space for individuals but can cater to business with 1,000+ employees. Co-working spaces offer fast internet, meeting spaces, and opportunities to work with like minded entrepreneurial individuals among many other things.
